The people who appreciate their work enough to want offline copies are, in many cases, their most dedicated fans. The kind who would also pay for a Patreon tier if one were offered. The people who would pirate the content regardless are not meaningfully slowed down by JavaScript DRM; they simply won’t bother and will move on to freely available content or… hunt down extensions that do the trick, I suppose.
